Bio

I grew up in Sylhet, a scenic region in northeastern Bangladesh, where I also began my academic
journey. After completing my master’s degree in Bangladesh, I moved to the United States to
pursue graduate studies at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. My research there was focused on
understanding aldosterone-regulated gene expression and MR and GR signaling using Xenopus as
a model system.

Before beginning my PhD in the Biomedical Science Graduate Program at the University of Iowa,
I contributed to research on leukemia and the development of T-cell–based immunotherapeutic
approaches at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. These experiences
strengthened my interest in understanding the fundamental biological mechanisms underlying
human disease and in translating basic scientific discoveries into potential therapeutic strategies.

Driven by my curiosity about disease biology and my enthusiasm for asking fundamental research
questions, I joined Dr. Shailesh Shahi’s laboratory at the University of Iowa. I am particularly
excited about exploring biological questions that bridge basic and translational research and
contribute to a deeper understanding of disease mechanisms.

Outside the lab, I enjoy listening to old-school music, playing the ukulele, and playing soccer and
cricket. I also love traveling, discovering new places, and meeting people from different
backgrounds, as I believe some of the most meaningful lessons in life come from experiences
beyond the classroom and laboratory. And whenever life gets a little overwhelming, a long drive
is usually my favorite way to clear my mind, reset, and return with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
