Eddie Alberto Banda, BA
Education
BA, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cornell College 2025
Biography
I grew up in Palmdale, California as a first-generation Mexican American and was recruited to compete in track and field and cross country at Cornell College, where I earned my B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. My experience as a student-athlete strengthened my discipline, resilience, and ability to balance demanding commitments.
In undergraduate research, I investigated genetic mechanisms underlying bipolar disorder, a neurodevelopmental condition, which deepened my interest in how molecular processes influence disease pathogenesis. I also work weekend overnight shifts in the long oligonucleotide synthesis department at Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), contributing to the production of DNA/RNA constructs used in research and therapeutic applications.
My research interests focus on the molecular and cellular mechanisms driving human disease, with a particular emphasis in translational research. I plan to pursue a Ph.D. to further explore these questions. Outside of the lab, I enjoy running, staying active, and continuing to challenge myself both personally and professionally.
